Language technologies in crisis preparedness & response (LT4CPR):

Development and use of language technologies (NLP, ASR, MT) in crisis scenarios (earthquakes, floods, pandemics, refugee crises, etc.)

Prof. William D. Lewis teaches at the University of Washington, where he co-founded the master's degree in computational linguistics along with Emily M. Bender and Fei Xia.

Until 2020, prof. Lewis worked at Microsoft Research on the Machine Translation team.

Lewis led the Translator team’s efforts to develop translation models for Haitian Kreyòl in the days following the massive Haitian earthquake of 2010, where responding rapidly with NLP and MT technologies was essential for saving lives.

La conferenza si svolge nell'ambito del corso di Machine Translation (LM in Specialized Translation / TraTec), ma è aperto a chiunque fosse interessato.
